Presented by the government on 3 September 2020, the recovery plan, which aims to accelerate the country's ecological, industrial and social transformation, proposes concrete measures aimed at everyone: individuals, businesses, non-profits, and local governments and authorities.

In order to rapidly stimulate the economy and achieve results in terms of decarbonisation, industrial redevelopment, and the strengthening of skills and qualifications throughout the country, the Government is rolling out a one-time €100 billion plan based on three pillars: Ecological transition, competitiveness and social cohesion.

The European Union is providing around €40 billion in financial support for this plan.

As part of the recovery plan, the "Digitally Upgraded Government" measure has supported the production of the new national ID card. The new card is more secure, more practical and has a modernised design.
